Chapter 3
Compare schools against the job you want
Start with a target role and a short list of programs. Rankings can help you discover schools; your comparison should explain why each one belongs on your list.
- Write the role, industry, and locations you want after the MBA.
- For each school, record relevant employers, internships, clubs, alumni conversations, and program length.
- Add tuition, expected funding, living costs, and the household commitments that affect your choice.
- End each row with the strongest reason to apply and the most important unanswered question.
If you want operations consulting in Boston, compare actual recruiting access and alumni experience in that work. A higher overall ranking is not enough to settle the choice.
